South African jurist Navi Pillay, who has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize 2026, dedicated the prize to “survivors of international crimes”. She made the remarks at a press conference in Nuremberg, Germany, where Nazi leaders were prosecuted after World War Two. “Let me dedicate this award to all of the survivors of international crimes,” said 85-year-old Pillay. She previously headed the tribunal that prosecuted those responsible for the 1994 Rwanda genocide and later led a United Nations commission of inquiry that accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza.
