EU urges US to reverse proposed sanctions against ICC

The European Union issued a statement on Saturday calling on the US to reverse their decision to impose sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC). In the statement on behalf of the bloc, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas reaffirmed the EU's support for the rules-based international order and respect for international law, stressing that the ICC is a fundamental pillar of that system. She condemned any targeting or threatening of the court and its elected officials, emphasising that the ICC must be able to operate independently, free from pressure or external interference.
